Arnold S. Rude, 96, Buffalo, MN and formerly of Cannon Falls, died at his son's home early Thursday morning, March 20, 2014.
Arnold was born on February 12, 1918 in Beresford, SD, the oldest son of Edward & Cora (Lunning) Rude. Arnold served his country in the US Army during WWII from October 8, 1941 to October 23, 1945. He served 20 of those months in the Aleutians Islands.
Arnold married Maxine Joy Nelson on June 11, 1945 at First Lutheran Church in St. Paul. They shared almost 52 years of marriage. Arnold farmed near Cannon Falls for many years and when he retired from farming he became the head of maintenance for Mineral Springs Rehabilitation Center. In 1997 he moved to Buffalo, MN. He volunteered at the Discovery School for 14 years and was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
He is survived by two sons Keith (Debbie) Rude, and Dennis (Averyl) Rude; eight grandchildren, Karen (Jacob) Driskill, Kathy (Shane) Reding, Becky Rude, Vincent Rude, Emma Rude, Aileen Rude, Meredith Rude and Lawton Rude; five great-grandchildren, Ella, Maggie and Norah Reding, Caleb and Graham Driskill; a brother, Defloren (Edna) Rude; and a sister-in-law, Clarice (Orvin) Burnside.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Cora Rude; his soulmate, Maxine Rude; son, Mark Rude; and two brothers, Curtis and Orvis Rude.
Funeral service was Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo, MN. Interment Cannon Falls Cemetery, Cannon Falls, MN.
