Alice Sather, 73, Cannon Falls and a former Northfield resident, died on Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Augustana Health Care Center in Apple Valley.
Alice Grace Marie Sather was born February 7, 1940 in Menomonie, WI, daughter of Elmer and Florence (Cockeram) Olson. She was raised in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School.
On October 1, 1960 she was united in marriage to Ronald Sather at the Little Elk Creek Lutheran Church in Menomonie. They dairy farmed for a few years near Elmwood, WI and in 1972 moved to Northfield. For 18 years Alice worked at Carleton College in the Development Office and then at United Hospital and Children's Hospital in St Paul as the Administrative Assistant in the Emergency Room.
In addition Alice helped her husband who owned and operated A & R Taxi in Northfield from 1992 until 2009. Alice and Ron enjoyed league bowling when they were younger. Alice served as league secretary for many years. Ron and Alice also spent many happy hours playing cribbage and traveling to tournaments. Alice spent her last few years living in Cannon Falls and was active at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Alice is survived by her five children, Robin (Allen) Montanye of Menomonie, WI, Ronald (Patty) Sather of Farmington, Ronda Garrigan of Tucson, AZ, Scott (Amanda) Sather of Clinton, MO and Terri (Martin) Spartz of Lewiston; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren plus one more due in March, three sisters, Beverly (Gerald) Kistner of Menomonie, WI, Marlys (David) Aspen of Trego, WI and Marilyn (John) Mars of Menomonie, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald, sister Mary Orfgen, brothers-in-law Donald Orfgen, Arvin Kramer, James Canfield, nephew Timothy Orfgen, and niece Betty Adams.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. Burial will take place in the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
