Alvin "AB" Fleming, 90, Orange Park, FL, died November 10, 2012.
AB was born in Hastings, the 9th child of Edward and Ida Fleming. He attended Cannon Falls High School and played ball with the Bombers. In 1937 he was employed by his brother Ted at King-Fleming Grocery, located at 106 4th Street. He and wife Grace built and lived in the house at 207 Mill Street in Cannon Falls.
AB volunteered for the Army in 1941, retiring after 27 years as a Command Sgt. Major.
He is survived by sons Patrick (Nancy), Baltimore, MD, and John Micheal (Bonnie), Plymouth, MN; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother Bill (Rose) Fleming; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years, Grace, in 2012; twin son Michael John, killed in action in Vietnam in 1970; six sisters; and four brothers.
A dual interment with full military honors was held for AB and Gold Star mother Grace on Nov. 30, 2012, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
