A nervous CFHS girls basketball team took to the court Friday night against Stewartville, losing 67-43.
"We were nervous to start, but came out much stronger in the second half and stuck right with them," coach Samantha McCamy said. "It was a good measuring stick for us; we definitely know what we need to work on."
Tatum Pickar led with 15 points, Kira Jacobson had eight points and four rebounds, and Camryn Schroeder six points and three rebounds.
Cannon picked up its first win of the season Monday, beating Schaeffer Academy 48-43.
"It was an emotional game for everyone," McCamy said. "We were down early, then made a big run at the end of the first half. We came out strong in the second half, but then Schaeffer made a big run. The girls fought to the end; they gave 100% effort the entire game. It was great to see them get the 'W'."
Pickar had 10 points and six steals, Jacobson eight points and 10 rebounds, Kaly Banks seven points and two rebounds, Belle Freeberg seven points, three rebounds and three steals, and Makayla Bowen seven points.
The Bombers have their next three games on the road. They are at Medford Thursday, Houston Friday, and Jordan on Tuesday, December 12.
