The Cannon Falls American Legion baseball team wrapped up its regular season with two nice wins, beating Zumbrota 11-1 and Jordan 3-2. Both were division wins.
Hunter Blakeslee got the win, going four innings and striking out six.
Cannon had 13 hits. Nathan Melhouse was 2-3 with a triple and RBI, Levi Prestegard 2-4 with a triple, and Quinton Lindow 2-4 with four RBI.
"Melhouse had a very nice game offensively, as did several guys," coach Bob Brintnall said. "We hit the ball hard and often. Prestegard looked very good at the plate."
Prestegard drew the starting nod against Jordan, and lasted five innings before giving way to Derek Johnson, who got the win.
Peter Haggerty was 2-4, and Jonathan Sharot 1-3 with a double and RBI.
"You should feel happy whenever you win, but I felt we could have played much better," Brintnall said. "We played just good enough to win. Our pitchers gave up only three hits, but had control problems with six walks and two hit batters.
"We had a Peterson-to-Lindow-to-Haggerty double play in the 3rd that was among the best plays I've seen all year. Peterson has to be one of the premier shortstops in the area; I wouldn't trade him for anyone."
Cannon finished the season 13-2. They start District play on Saturday.
