Bears win two games

The Cannon Falls Bears picked up two lopsided wins last week, beating Bay City 8-2 Friday and Spring Valley 15-5 Wednesday.

Jared Woodward got the win against Bay City, going five innings and giving up two runs. He struck out four. Michael Growette and Billy Coakley followed in relief.

Cannon had 11 hits, by Zeke Williams, Keith Meyers, Jamie Stay, Brandon Voth, Cory Hedeen, Ryan Brintnall, Noah Callister, Woodward, Growette, Coakley and Chris Nobach. Stay had a double.

A 6-run 2nd inning propelled the Bears to the win over Spring Valley.

The Bears had nine hits, but drew 16 walks. Luke Winchell had two hits, and Meyers, Woodward, Hedeen, Voth, Callister, Nobach and Nolan Rechtzigel had one each.

Callister got the win, with Tyler Boyle-Hoban and Austin Jacobs pitching in relief.

Cannon hosted Prescott on Tuesday. They go to St. Martin on Friday, then host the Eagan Bandits on Thursday, June 12, at 7:30 p.m.
