Randolph BB wins three more

The RHS baseball team remained unbeaten with three conference wins last week. They beat Blooming Prairie 7-0 Friday, and swept a doubleheader against USC Monday, winning 10-1 and 9-4.

Nate Overby pitched a gem against Blooming Prairie, giving up one hit in seven innings. He struck out seven.

Mitch Kimmes was 3-3 with an RBI, Austin Moorhouse 2-4 with two doubles and three RBI, Drew Weidner 2-4, Cody Pirkl 2-4, and David Speight 1-3 with a double and two RBI.

Pirkl pitched a complete game in the opener of the doubleheader Monday, scattering five hits while striking out seven.

He also went 2-4 with two RBI, Moorhouse was 2-4 with a home run and four RBI, and Kyle Volkert was 2-3.

Weidner earned the victory in the second game, giving up five hits and striking out four in four innings. Kyle Volkert pitched an inning in relief.

Weidner went 2-2 with an RBI, Pirkl 2-3 with three RBI, Jake Hines 2-2 with an RBI, and Brady Johnson and Garrett McAdams got their first hits of the season.

"Speight was an ironman behind the plate, catching all 12 innings," coach Chris Stanton said. "Hunter Ehlers and Nick Wenstrom played outstanding in the outfield."

The Rockets hosted NRHEG on Tuesday. They are scheduled to go to Medford on Thursday, host Janesville on Saturday, and to entertain Maple River in a doubleheader on Saturday.
