The RHS baseball team remained unbeaten on the year, downing New Richland in a Gopher Conference game last week. The final score was 6-1.
Randolph opened up a close 2-1 game with four runs in the top of the 7th. Starter Cody Pirkl, who went the distance, put NRHEG down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning. He struck out nine, and had two hits.
Kyle Volkert was 2-3 with two runs and a stolen base. "He provided a spark for us with very good baserunning early in the game," coach Chris Stanton said. Drew Weidner added two hits and two RBI.
"I really like how our team is playing the game right now," Stanton said. "Our pitchers keep us in game, and we have made very few errors. The guys are taking better at-bats and are putting the ball in play."
RHS was scheduled for four games this week, but two - on Monday and Tuesday - have already been postponed. They are scheduled to play in Waterville Thursday and at home against Goodhue on Friday.
