The RHS boys basketball team had its season come to an end Saturday in sub-section play, 73-55 at the hands of Southland-Adams.
Randolph came out in the first half and held Southland's leading scorer to only six points, but inconsistency on offense led to them falling behind early.
"Turnovers and no second-shot opportunities kept us behind in the first half," coach Tony Linbo said. Randolph made a few runs at the lead but Southland was able to get to the free throw line. "The game was about 6-8 point game until the end, when it got away from us. We still feel like we were the better team."
Eric Otte led with 18 points, Austin Moorhouse and Kyle Volkert had 12 each, Andrew Emery six, David Speight five and Drew Weidner two.
The Rockets lost their last regular season game to Alden-Conger Tuesday, Feb. 18, by the score of 57-55.
RHS led most of the way, but were defeated down the stretch. "We needed to make some buckets at the end and didn't," Linbo said. "They did."
Otte and Volkert each had 13 points, Emery had eight, Moorhouse six, Weidner and Luke Dubbels five, David Speight and Grant Otte two, and Hunter Ehlers one.
Three seniors have ended their careers: Austin Moorhouse, Andrew Emery and Gino Espinoza. "They led our team with confidence and will be missed," Linbo said. "Thank you to all the parents for supporting our team throughout the season."
