Five forfeits, seven pins in win

The Cannon Falls-Randolph wrestling team used five forfeits to beat Triton 69-9 Thursday, in their only action of the week.

Peter Fitterer at 106, Ryan Epps at 126, Keston Lopez at 132, Derek Johnson at 170, Nathan Melhouse at 182, Clay Broze at 220 and Cooper Rohloff at 285 won by pin. Winning by forfeit were Wyatt Johnson, Paul Fitterer, Connor Rohr and Sterling Carlson. Hayden Strain won by 7-0 decision.

The JV was at a tournament Saturday. Cole Zimmerman placed first, Zach Holes third, Erwin Strelow, Henry Johnson, Wyatt Johnson, Jacob Hanka and Mason Stevens were fourth, and Brody Johnson and Mason Cable wrestled but did not place.

The Bombers received the #4 seed in Section 1AA, and will open playoffs on Thursday, Feb. 13, at home. They face either #5 Caledonia or #12 LaCrescent; those two wrestle each other at 6 p.m., and the Bombers wrestle the winner at 7 p.m.

Action then moves to the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester on Saturday, Feb. 15.

Other teams in the section are #1 Kasson-Mantorville, #2 Albert Lea, #3 Stewartville, #6 Plainview, #7 Waterville, #8 Lewiston, #9 Byron, #10 Faribault and #11 Waseca.
