The RHS girls basketball team got itself back on the winning path Tuesday, Jan. 21, beating LeRoy-Ostrander 45-41.
Both teams played tough defense in the 1st half, and neither generated much offense. The Rockets trailed 23-20 at the half.
Randolph was able to string together some strong offensive possessions in the 2nd half, and continued to play strong defense. They shot well from the floor but made only 40% of their free throws, which contributed to the close final margin.
Sami Bey had a season-high 23 rebounds, and scored eight points. Madi Taylor had 11 points and three steals, Ashleigh Dralle had six points, Kelsie Jo Endres five, and Carolyn Meyer and Kori Friedges had four apiece.
RHS went to Blooming Prairie Friday night, and were sent home with a 64-40 loss. Randolph started the game slowly, and trailed 39-12 at the half.
The Rockets had more energy in the 2nd half, but could never close the gap. "The girls played hard and aggressive in the 2nd half, and never gave up," said coach Dennis Trom. "A great attribute about this team is they never give up, and always play hard till the end."
Endres led the team with 11 points and three steals. Meyer also had 11 points, and was 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Dralle added six points, Wendy Splichal five, and Angie Hoey, Taylor and Makayla Kuhn had two points each.
The Rockets hosted United South Central Tuesday. They then hit the road, going to Faribault BA on Friday and Maple River on Monday, Feb. 3.
