by Mike Dalton
Playing without two of its top players, the CFHS boys basketball team dropped its season opener to St. Croix Lutheran Friday night, 71-64.
Neither Jordan Lundell nor Hunter Johnson suited up; both were out with injury.
With those two out, coach Josh Davisson said, Tanner Carlson, Taylor Carlson, Zach Stiehl and Peter Haggerty stepped up to fill expanded roles. "As players get healthy and return to the lineup, the experience gained by these players will make us a stronger team," the coach said.
Senior Brock Peterson led the way offensively with a career-high 38 points. He made five 3-pointers. Alex Bultena had 13 points, Taylor Carlson four, Austin Noble four, Stiehl three and and Tanner Carlson two. Noble had eight rebounds, Bultena seven and Taylor Carlson six.
The boys are at Prescott Monday, Dec. 2, and they host Stewartville on Tuesday before going to Kasson-Mantorville on Friday, Dec. 6.
