There were big plays everywhere in Randolph Friday night, as the Rockets and Nicollet broke a state record for combined score in a 78-58 RHS loss.
"It was a game of everything," commented Randolph coach Chris Stanton. Austin Moorhouse broke school records for receiving yards in a game (205) and receiving touchdowns in a game (four). Luke Dubbels broke his brother's record for passing yards in a game (429), touchdown passes (six), and total touchdowns (six passing, one rushing).
"It was a wild game," Stanton said. "Nicollet had some outstanding athletes; their QB was probably the best athlete on the field, and it was hard to contain him. I was really proud of our effort; we could have hung our heads at halftime, when the score was 50-22, but we battled back and outscored them in the 2nd half. This was one of those games that everybody will remember because of all the scoring."
Dubbels completed 17 of 25 passes for 429 yards and six touchdowns. Moorhouse caught eight passes for 205 yards and four touchdowns, Hunter Ehlers one for 80 yards and a score, Drake Speight four for 67 yards and a score, and Sam Feidt four for 77 yards.
Justin Waldvogel rushed 14 times for 76 yards, and Dubbels ran 13 times for 76 yards. Joey Adamson had an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Defensively, Waldvogel had nine tackles, Charlie Wille Jr. eight, Andy Noble seven, and Adamson, Zach Sirinek and Nick Bergstrom had six each. Brady Thesing had an interception.
