The CFHS football team played well on both sides of the ball Friday night, racking up over 400 yards of offense while holding an explosive LaCrescent offense to 14 points in a 37-14 win.
After spotting LaCrescent a 7-0 lead, seniors Hunter Johnson and Jordan Lundell connected on a 32-yard scoring pass near the end of the 1st quarter. Derek Johnson's kick tied the score.
Lundell scored the next three touchdowns, on 6-yard and 1-yard runs in the 2nd quarter, and on a 22-yard pass from Johnson midway through the 3rd. After a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown let LaCrescent pull closer, Johnson nailed a 19-yard field goal and Ryan Castillo scored on a 27-yard jaunt to end the scoring.
"I'm very proud of how the boys focused on getting better last week," coach Josh Hofstedt said.
Johnson completed eight of 15 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns, both to Lundell, who had 54 receiving yards. Alex Bultena caught five for 36 yards, Brock Peterson one for 40, and Tanner Carlson one for 24. Johnson was the leading rusher with 102 yards, Lundell had 36 yards and three TDs, Castillo 91 yards and a score, and Nick Lorentz had 10 yards rushing.
