The CFHS tennis team was on both ends of 7-0 scores last week, losing to Lourdes 0-7 but beating Winona Cotter 7-0. They also lost to Northfield, 6-1.
Lourdes played better at all seven positions, Bomber coach Paul Norstad said. "We had opportunities at every position, but never got things going," Norstad said. "Hopefully we will learn from this match for the next time we play them. Everyone is going to need to step up if we're going to win matches."
Cannon had no trouble at all with Cotter. Tayler Banitt, Maddie Adel, MaKenna Bauer and Grace Rutter won singles matches, and Kaesey Glaess/Hannah Boman, Sheyenne Bauer/Sarah Modrak, and Bethany Nelson/Molly Rolfes won doubles matches. No match went beyond two sets.
"We had it pretty easy," Norstad said. "I thought the girls were very focused. We only lost three games in 14 sets."
Maddie Adel at #2 singles picked up the only win Friday against Northfield, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5.
"Another tough one," Norstad said. "Maddie played really well; other than that, Northfield was just better. I think we are a better team than what we have shown so far; hopefully I'm right and we can get things going quickly."
The Bomber JV squad placed 2nd at their own tournament Saturday, finishing behind a good Red Wing team.
The Bombers were at Lake City Tuesday. They host Stewartville Thursday, are at the John Marshall tournament Saturday, and host Trinity on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
