7/18/2013 2:04:00 PM Big first inning puts Legion over Prescott
A big first inning with Cannon's Legion team scoring four runs, was all pitcher Noah Callister needed, as the locals went on to win 6-1.
"Games with quality programs like Prescott are just what we needed leading into playoffs. They are always a solid well disciplined team. Nice measuring stick for us," said coach Bob Brintnall.
Callister had a great outing and was in control, going the full seven innings. He allowed three hits, struck out five.
"We came out hot, with six hits in the first inning, all solid knocks. It put them on their heels; it's tough for a team to dig out of a hole like that," Brintnall added.
The locals had 13 hits. Bryce Boyle-Hoban had three hits, Peter Haggerty, Brock Peterson, Tanner Jackson all had two hits. Tyler Wilson added three RBIs.
"We can be a very good team when everything comes together, like tonight. When you get hitting production like we did here from several different players, at this time of year, it's exciting for the kids," Brintnall said.
Cannon plays at Cologne, MN at noon on Friday, the start of District playoffs.
