Bears lose two close ballgames

by Mike Dalton

The Cannon Falls Bears suffered two tough-luck losses last week, 3-1 to Hastings Wednesday and 1-0 to the Milroy Irish on Saturday.

The Milroy game was part of the Gaylor/Arlington tournament, which saw the consolation bracket washed out because of rain.

Andy Otto pitchedd well in that game, giving up one earned run and striking out five.

The Bears were held to five hits, all singles, by Zeke Williams, Brandon Voth, Josh Harrison, Cory Hedeen and Tyler Quinlan. The Bears left quite a few runners on base, manager Keith Meyers said.

Luke Winchell pitched nine innings against Hastings, striking out four and allowing 10 hits. He also had two hits, as did Nate Otto. Taylor Pagel and Harrison had one hit each.

Cannon is host to the Dundas Dukes Wednesday, June 26. They also host St. Benedict Friday, Miesville Sunday, and Randolph on Thursday, July 4, at 2 p.m
