The Cannon Falls VFW Post 4452 baseball team currently sports a 5-3 overall record, and they are 3-2 in the league.
The squad swept Albert Lea Sunday, winning 10-3 and 8-7.
Tanner Carlson tossed a complete game in the first win, striking out five and scattering eight hits. Jonathan Sharot had four hits and four RBI, Garrett Beach had three hits and three RBI, Quinton Lindow and Michael Monson had two hits each, and Carter Dombeck, Jason Traynor and Michael Quinn had one hit each.
Beach picked up a win in relief in the second game, throwing three innings after starter John Haugen made it through two innings. Monson pitched the final two innings.
Traynor had two hits, and Carlson, Lindow, Dombeck, Beach and Braden Hartl had one apiece. Carlson and Dombeck each had two RBI.
Cannon Falls split with Faribault on Saturday, winning 8-2 and losing 6-5.
Lindow gave up two runs in the 1st inning, then settled down to blank Faribault the rest of the way. He struck out seven and gave up five hits.
Lindow had three hits, Carlson, Dombeck and Beach two each, and Sharot, Nathan Melhouse and Traynor had one apiece.
"Melhouse had a huge double in our 4-run 5th inning," coach Bucky Lindow said. "Sharot had a great game defensively in center field. We left a lot of runners on base the first two innings, but had many clutch hits after that."
Faribault scored a run in the bottom of the 7th to win the second game.
Beach took the loss, in relief of Hartl. Carlson and Michael Quinn had two hits each, and Beach, Traynor, Monson and Hayden Strain had one apiece.
The busy week started Friday, June 14, with an 18-7 loss to Rochester.
Dombeck, Haugen, Lindow and Beach shared pitching duties. Nick Lorentz had two hits, and Sharot, Dombeck and Traynor each had one hit.
The team was home Tuesday against Northfield. They are at Winona Wednesday and at Austin on Friday.
