The RHS girls basketball team wrapped up its 8-19 season with a banquet on Tuesday, March 19.
Senior Breanna Wille was named the team's most valuable player as well as its best defender. She led the team with 6.1 points per game, 3.5 assists per game and 3.7 steals per game. She was named honorable mention all-conference.
Madi Taylor was second on the team in scoring, 5.6 points per game, and she averaged 1.2 assists. Carolyn Meyer was the top rebounder, 5.4 per game, and Taylor Bickman averaged 5.3 rebounds per game. Abby Meyer had 1.3 steals per game.
Junior Ashleigh Dralle was named the team's most improved player. Wille and Jami Kusilek were recognized as academic all-state, and eight were named academic all-conference: Wendy Splichal, Karly Friedges, Abby Meyer, Madi Taylor, Carolyn Meyer, Josie Fields, Jami Kusilek and Breanna Wille.
Wille finished her career with 138 assists, third in school history, and 153 steals, second in school history. She also set single-game records with 11 assists against Triton and 13 steals against Cleveland.
Senior Jenny Werner ended her career with 480 rebounds, fourth in school history, and Kusilek was third in school history with 136 steals.
"This team played with a very balanced roster, getting contributions from 9-11 players on any given night," coach Mike Haase said. "We prided ourselves on playing unselfish basketball. We certainly didn't have a scoring star, so we counted on a lot of players to give us consistent contributions night in and night out. We have four outstanding seniors (Wille, Werner, Bickman, Kusilek) who have had great careers and who will be graduating this spring."
