The RHS girls basketball team had one of its best offensive showings of the year Tuesday, when they beat Rochester Home Schoolers 62-52.
The game was back-and-forth early, and was tied at 25 when Sami Bey converted on a 3-point play at the buzzer, giving the Rockets a 28-25 lead. From there the Rockets were able to increase their defensive pressure, which led to turnovers. They did struggle from the line, making 12 of 23.
Madi Taylor had her best offensive game of the season, scoring 17 points. Bey also had a season-high 13, Carolyn Meyer had 11, Abby Meyer, Kelsie Jo Endres and Breanna Wille six points, Jenner Werner two and Ashleigh Dralle one.
Randolph played a solid first half Friday against Blooming Prairie, but the Blossoms rattled off five or six unanswered baskets to start the second half in a 64-33 win.
BP is ranked #9 in the state, but the Rockets hung close early. "We missed a few shots from close range, but I felt like we were in a good position at halftime," coach Mike Haase said. "That stretch in the second half took us out of the game."
Bey, Endres and Dralle all scored six points, Wille five, Taylor Bickman four, and Abby Meyer, Carolyn Meyer and Werner had two.
Randolph has seven games remaining in the regular season. They were at USC Tuesday and Alden Conger Thursday before hosting Faribault BA Friday. They go to Janesville on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
