Wrestlers are first at Sibley

The Cannon Falls-Randolph wrestling team had a very successful tournament at Henry Sibley Saturday, coming home with top honors and having seven wrestlers take 1st place.

Paul Fitterer at 106, Ryan Epps at 113, Tyler Wilson at 120, Keston Lopez at 126, Roman Wundrow at 138, Justin Miest at 170 and Clay Broze at 220 all took first. Connor Rohr (132), Sterling Carlson (152) and Derek Johnson (160) were second, Bo Schuette (145) was third, and Nathan Melhouse (182) was fourth. Hayden Strain wrestled but was assigned to another team to fill a weight class. He made it to the finals where he forfeited to Wilson.

Cannon Falls had 256.5 points, followed by Waconia with 206, Sibley 170.5, Burnsville 137, Spring Lake Park 109, St. Paul Highland Park 59, St. Paul Johnson 57 and St. Paul Humboldt 19.

Ten wrestlers currently sport .500 records or better: Fitterer 23-0, Epps 18-2, Wilson 19-7, Lopez 15-6, Rohr 20-5, Wundrow 20-4, Carlson 15-4, Johnson 16-7, Miest 8-2 and Broze 24-0.

The squad hosts a triangular meet Thursday, Jan. 24, and they are at an invitational tournament at Rochester Century on Saturday.
