Cannon Falls High School junior Emi Trost ran the race she wanted to Saturday at the state class "A" cross country meet, and the result was a 2nd place finish.
"My race went about as planned," she said. "I was very happy with the results. My goal was to run strong and finish strong, and I did both."
For the second year in a row, Trost finished behind Clare Flanagan of the Blake School. Flanagan ran a time of 5:24.00, and Trost ran 5:28.05. "She's a really good runner," Trost said of Flanagan.
Trost has one more race left this season, the Nike Heartland Regional in Sioux Falls, SD, then she'll take a bit of a break until track season.
"I cross country ski in the winter, but did a lot of cross-training in our barn the past couple of years, since we didn't have much snow," she said. "I'll still get out and run as much as I can, to keep in shape, but I do like to let my body rest during the winter."
Trost has no college plans for after graduation, except for one: "I will definitely run in college," she said.
