Eighth grader Becca Vandenheuvel was chosen by her teammates at the most valuable player of the CFHS volleyball team, following the 2009 season.
Vandenheuvel led the team with 231 digs, and she had a 2.3 passing efficiency, the best on the squad. She also was voted the player with the best work ethic.
Jordan Montgomery and Jordan Blakeslee were named honorable mention all-conference. Montgomery had 209 kills and a 24.8% attack percentage.
Makenzie Franklin had the most blocks, with 86 total and 57 ace blocks. Andrea Reinardy led in set assists, 357, and averaged 3.3 assists per game. She had the best serve percentage, 94%, and had 37 ace serves and 338 service points, leading the Bombers in all three categories.
Other awards, as voted on by players, were communicator on the court, Krissy McCoy; most improved, Franklin; positive attitude, Blakeslee and Franklin; and Bomber Spirit Award, McCoy.
Montgomery and Blakeslee were named to the Republican Eagle all-area second team, and McCoy and Franklin were honorable mention.
Letterwinners were Sam Wolter, McKenzie Sesker, Franklin, Natalie Reinardy, Blakeslee, Kim Ripley, Andrea Reinardy, Morgan Berg, Montgomery, McCoy, Carly Broze, Becca Welt, Lydia Franken and Vandenheuvel.
"As the season progressed, the girls were playing better volleyball as a team," said coach Melissa Huseth. "That is always our goal, to improve a little more every day. By the end of the season I hope each athlete can walk away with fond memories and know that they gave all they could to their teammates to help the team be successful."
