On August 12th, we will go a short distance down the road to the Vasa town hall to vote for candidates in federal, state and county offices. Although this is "only" a primary election, we consider it a very important first step in choosing the best candidates to represent us in this, our ever evolving system of American Democracy.
County government is the basic building block of this system and, therefore, whom we choose as our County Commissioner is a decision worthy of our thoughtful consideration. Our County Commissioner must be trusted to make the right decisions which directly impact the quality of our lives as citizens of Goodhue County.
We will enthusiastically be voting to support Sandy Wollschlager for County Commissioner. We have known Sandy since moving to Vasa in 1979. As a life-long resident of this area, Sandy's family history here goes back several generations. At the time, we thought this was quite remarkable, having previously lived in six different states before settling here in this beautiful area of Minnesota.
Over the years we have seen Sandy tirelessly work for the benefit of us all in numerous elected and volunteer positions. She has effectively used her scientific and administrative education and experience to always make the best decisions for the welfare of all the people she represented. Her friendly and outgoing personality is a great asset in relating to, and working with others who have not always shared her point of view.
We are looking forward to exercising our right (and privilege) to vote on August 12th. Our County Commissioner (although appearing last on the ballot, is a most important position). He or she must be trusted to make the right decisions which will most directly impact the quality of our lives here in our beautiful county. This is why we will be casting our vote for Sandy Wollwchlager and encourage you, our fellow county residents, to do the same. But, whomever you support, please make the effort to vote. Our Democracy depends on it!
