Nobody gets to own anything

To the editor:

Once upon a time French border was Minneapolis. They still speak French across Niagara Falls.

Mexico owned Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, California. Ours now by war.

Post-WWII Russia ruled to Berlin Wall.

We got Minnesota by hanging 20 Indian chiefs in Mankato.

Conclusion - nobody gets to own anything. We just get to take care of it awhile (except our do-less-than-nothing Congress).

But collectively we human types have done a lousy job of it - actually a form of blasphemy. We're supposed to respect all of creation. Ignorance is supposed to be cured by not sucking the breast of self-importance forever.

Knowledge is cornerstone of reverance. Ignorance requires the comfort of blind faith.

Our ethical and religious job is to find harmony with each other and respect all of life forms.

Intrinsic to "Patriotism" is the exploitation of hate. "Blessed are the peacemakers."

To repeat, our do-less-than-nothing Congress is self-indulgent, not patriotic, certainly unprincipaled and void of religious virtue.

In any case, Ms. Salzman, I doubt body cavity search of half-starved kids is likely to yield nukes.

The larger issues of overpopulation plus resource exploitation remain.

The remedy is control of baby-making machinery, so "right-to-life" includes to be secure in both caloric intake and love.

Sincerely,

Robert Eugene Molenaar, MD
