I think our City Hall a bit inept doing a thankless job. Swim pool fiasco says so. And our brand new "state of the art" library had a leaky roof from the start.
I'd accept our old hospital as a gift with a long no tax moratorium and no other conditions - because hospitals are by design one use structures. Tearing down is also too high a price for the land it stands on.
Old St. John's Hospital is for sale for a buck and no tokens.
I'd get some seasoned realtors, builders to take a look.
For a West Side Park there is that under used fairgrounds and Jim Weinel's old digs, plus Hannah's Bend.
I'd wait for the new city managers to digest the problem. Personally, as I've mentioned, our city engineer is in a conflict of interest position to advise the council.
Robert Eugene Molenaar, M.D.
P.S. That gravel bowl where our swim pool sits cries for trees and grass and park doodads.
