My Dad has had a heart defect since childhood. Many decades ago, our Dr. Robert Molenaar told him he could live to age 50 or so -- IF he took care of himself. My Dad turned 85 this week! I'm glad Doc got that one wrong.
I also want to thank Doc for one he got right: A few years after high school, when I was still "aimless", Doc told me it was time to get off my lazy a** and get myself an education. Since no one had ever confronted me like that before, it made an impact. Soon after, I started working my way through college. Although it took years to complete my degree, my life took a different course. I'm not sure that would have happened without Doc's "gentle" prodding. Thanks Doc!
