As a grandfather, I still remember the challenges of parenting. Both of our adult children are now veteran teachers who are married to teachers, so I also understand much better the challenges that teachers face in their jobs. Our children are graduates of the Cannon Falls school system and since graduation my exposure to the general student population has been rare.
Several years ago, my company, River Country Coop, decided to donate some money annually to local groups involved in agriculture, which is our core business.
My exposure to the students in FFA and Cannon Falls and Randolph has been nothing short of amazing. The high participation in these successful programs is a tribute to their instructors. The quality of the students participating in these programs is evident in their appreciation and their conduct. These students are a credit to themselves, their parents, and their teachers. If they are any barometer of our future, then our future is truly bright.
