The Cannon Falls city council approved personnel moves for the ambulance service and police department at its August 5 meeting.
Sulo Kyyra Jr., who first joined the ambulance service as a volunteer in June of 2009, bought a house in Cannon Falls for his family, and also joined the volunteer fire department will be promoted to full-time Emergency Medical Services Supervisor. Start date was July 29.
Kyrra has obtained his EMT and First Responder Instructor certification and has assisted with EMT classes, said Brenda Voshalike, CF Ambulance Service director.
"I have the utmost respect for Sulo, both as an EMT and as an individual," said Voshalike.
He will start at grade 8, step 6 on the city pay schedule.
The city recently accepted resignations from veteran ambulance service employees Mike Althoff and Ivan Mazurkiewicz. The city also recently approved expanding the service by one employee to better serve growing call volume.
On the police side, Trevor Sullivan, a CFHS class of 2012 graduate, was approved for a full-time officer position. Sullivan has been on the police reserve staff, contingent on all psych and med checks. He is the son of Steve and Jackie Sullivan.
This position had been a part-time position but was approved to be increased to full. August 18 start date is anticipated. Pay grade 10, step 1 on the city schedule.
