The Cannon Falls Township board meeting on February 12 centered on snow, cold and ice.
Board members told Township road maintenance manager Dan Millard to feel free to bring in a second man on any snowfall over an inch to get the roads cleared on a timely basis.
The board also encouraged Millard to continue to push back some of the bigger drifts and snow piles, especially at intersections. Millard was hoping for some warmer weather to settle some of the snow piles.
The board said extra salt/sanding may be necessary after some of these light "nuisance" snowfalls that don't call for full plowing, but do cover up previously spread salt, sand and rock. Millard thought the Township was in good shape on salt/sand supplies.
Millard asked for clarification on what the Township is supposed to be doing for the city on gravel roads Hardwood Way near Our Saviour's church and 320th near the Mayo construction site.
The board, wary of the high price of propane, did ask for clarification on how much propane the township was going through to heat the hall and shed.
If the weather improves to tolerable temperatures and ditches become more accesible, Goodhue sentence-to-serve crews may be doing some clearing of brush from right-of-ways on Sunset Trail and Woodhaven Trail.
The Township had a balance of $393,052 after paying bills. $105,890 is in checking and $136,162 in savings. The remainder is in CDs.
