The New Trier town hall meeting began by discussing the budget for 2014. The estimated expenditures are $33,000, assuming fire protection increases 5% in cost. There will be no payroll raises in the next fiscal year. The proposed tax levies are for the upcoming year are $45,000, which is an increase of $5,000 from the previous year.
The curb stop was repaired with lower cost than initially projected. Despite several complaints about water quality being affected by the project, the water has been declared uncontaminated.
A conditional use permit fee of $253 was approved as nonrefundable even if the permit is rejected. Due to the time expended in process of application, all permit fees are now nonrefundable. The permit must be rejected or tabled within 60 days or is automatically approved.
There was a modification to Ordinance 31.46. Under the previous ordinance, members of the planning commission, which meets every three months, four times a year, were allowed three excused absences. The modification allows one excused absence with a recommendation of reminding members of meeting times.
The council approved advertising for snow removal service in St. Mary's bulletin and the Beacon and will accept quotes. They hope to decide on snow removal service by the October meeting.
A project to make historical documents available to public in the New Trier town hall is in discussion.
