by Ken Haggerty
The Cannon Falls Township board tried to answer as best it could more zoning and annexation questions at its February 13 meeting.
With MnDOT actively pursuing right-of-way purchases for the Hwy. 52 interchange project, a number of Township residents have contacted the Township with questions about zoning. Brent Moline was at this meeting to explore what the annexation process would involve for a 150 acre parcel his family owns near the site of the new interchange. The piece is south of and adjacent to the new hospital property. The Board said he should contact the city of Cannon Falls to pursue the next step, but that would work with him to accommodate his needs.
Goodhue County Land Use Director Lisa Hanni updated the Township on the mining moratorium that is due to expire in September. Hanni said they will be holding a meeting in April in Zumbrota on proposed new mining ordinances.
Audit and annual meeting
The annual audit showed all records were in order. Elections and the annual meeting are March 12. Supervisor Deb Hendrickson and Treasurer Mary Ann Maneval are on the ballot, with no opposition.
