7/18/2014 9:24:00 AM 52 intersection by DQ closing
The Highway 52 new bridge, ramps and connecting roads project on the south end of Cannon Falls is moving into its final stages, with the intersection by Dairy Queen expected to close this week.
The traffic signal on that intersection will be removed and access to frontage roads from Hwy. 52 at that intersection will also be closed.
This will allow construction work to progress on the new northbound on-ramp to Highway 52, as well as the new southbound off-ramp for Highway 52. A new stormwater pond is also going in at the intersection area.
During the closure, traffic can access businesses and frontage roads on both sides by using the intersection at the north traffic signal at Goodhue County Road 24 (by the Saratoga and McDonald's).
Once the interchange and new access roads are complete, (plan still calls for August) the northern stoplights and that intersection are also expected to be closed.
In August, there will be also be paving work on Highway 52 between Highview Road and the Cannon River, including the Highway 19 interchange. Lane closures and ramp closures will be necessary from time to time as that work progresses.
Paving work on the frontage roads on the west side of Hwy. 52 is nearly complete.
The work is part of a $14.3 million project that includes an overpass, interchange, frontage roads and paving. S.M. Hentges & Sons of Jordan, Minnesota, is the contractor.
