6/13/2014 10:13:00 PM Entries needed for July 4 parade
Registration is in full swing as the Cannon Valley Fair Association again prepares for its Independence Day parade. Letters were not mailed out this year but registrations may be acquired at the website, www.cannonvalleyfair.org/parade or picked up at the Beacon office from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. week days. The deadline for submission is Monday, June 16.
Entrants will begin lining up at 10 a.m. in the area surrounding the high school, for the 11:30 a.m. start at East Side Park on Friday, July 4.
The one and one-half mile route past an estimated crowd of 20,000 lining the streets travels west on Minnesota St. to Second St., south on Second St. to Mill St., crossing the bridge to the fairgrounds, where the Cannon Valley Fair concludes its 2014 run.
Everyone is welcome to attend the fair from Tuesday, July 1, through fireworks on the Fourth of July (Friday night).
Many of the events, including the parade, are successful through generous donations which may be included with registration.
Further information and sponsorship details are available by contacting the fair office, 507-263-3548, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or visiting their website at www.cannonvalleyfair.org.
If animals or music are part of, or included with, a float, the Fair Association should be notified so that line up will be safe for all. Proof of vehicle and animal insurance is required and may be included with an entry form.
Items may be distributed to, but not be thrown into, the parade crowd, nor are water balloons allowed, due to safety concerns.
