After a November taping of "The Price is Right" last November in Los Angeles, Cannon Falls resident Kathy Giefer did her own taping of the episode in which she appeared, when it aired on January 3.
She had a house full of guests to watch the show with her. The viewing party included fellow travelers Wendy Roeber and Heidi Meyers who went out there with Kathy. They watched later that Friday with Kathy's husband Bernie, Heidi's husband Tim and the kids, Wendy's husband Barry, John and Dana Olson, Justin and Jackie Giefer and Ashley Giefer and Chris Helgren.
"It was the first time I had seen it and I was so excited when we were out there that I couldn't remember what I did. We all decided we would wait and watch it together," explained Kathy.
The trio flew to Los Angeles spending Saturday, through Wednesday, November 9 to 13, in the city, and in the audience of the popular game show both Monday and Tuesday, November 11 and 12.
"It's something that has been on by 'bucket list' for many, many years," she explained. "So for my birthday (November 15) I decided this was it."
Kathy described the process of getting her show tickets on-line and then getting to the set early. Interviews with groups of about 20 were then conducted by one of the shows producers.
"They asked questions and the first day they asked what I did and I said 'day care.' I didn't get picked so the next day I decided to spice it up and when they asked I said, 'I run a zoo!' and then explained it was a day care." She was selected.
Though she did not make it to the stage, she won $300 for being a contestant and had a lot of fun in the process.
"There is probably more footage of us on Monday (to be aired Wednesday, February 5) since were in the front row," she chuckled.
