9/5/2013 10:55:00 AM Smooth first day for local school districts
by Mike Dalton
The first day of school at both Cannon Falls and Randolph went off without many hitches, local administrators reported Tuesday afternoon.
"Our new transportation service, Safelink, did an outstanding job," Cannon Falls superintendent Beth Giese said. "Of course, with so much construction around town it made the routes a bit off, but overall went better than expected.
"Our new start time worked out well at the elementary; now the entire district is in sync," she continued. "Enrollment is up, which caused last-minute hires, but they too were ready to go. Our preschool is busting at the seams; we will most likely add another 3-year-old section. And all-day, every-day kindergarten - it's a beautiful thing!"
Officials at Randolph also reported a smooth opening, with no major issues.
