A very enthusiastic group of Mayo Clinic Health System employees in Cannon Falls has been working hard to involve coworkers in supporting the medical center's capital campaign for a new facility.
Dirk Niles, employee campaign committee member, says it's easy to be enthusiastic when you understand the need for a new facility first hand. "We currently give great care but our small, aging building limits us from providing an excellent patient experience."
The employee campaign committee represents many departments of the medical center. Under its leadership, employees have raised $184,000 in the past couple of months. "We exceeded our initial goal of $150,000, and we're well on our way to our $200,000 stretch goal," says Niles. Collectively, Cannon Falls medical center staff is among the largest contributors to the campaign. Community support will supplement funds from Mayo Clinic, with $2.2 million remaining to be raised locally.
Julie Bateson, who works in the business office and leads the employee committee, says "it's been a rewarding experience to be involved in this among peers. Everyone has been enthusiastically supportive of the project. It just shows we're still a family, no matter how much we grow."
