Samantha (Sam) Modrak and Blake Hogan were crowned as the 2012 Cannon Falls High School Homecoming Queen and King at the coronation ceremony on Monday night, October 1, at the Cannon Falls auditorium.
Sam is the daughter of George and Laura Modrak, rural County 24 Blvd. Sam is active in tennis, band and FFA. She is a member of St. Pius V Church.
Blake is the son of John and Paula Hogan, rural Hwy. 19 Blvd. He is in track and field and his favorite class is Construction. He is a member of Spring Garden Lutheran Church.
A crowd of about 400 was in attendance. Senior class emcees were Shannon Phelps and Nick Van Watermeulen. The Senior class was led by teachers Rick Bennett and Tyler Quinlan.
Exchange students Miya Horita, Japan, and Alejandro Lalama, Ecuador, were escorted in by Marissa Stein and Austin Jacobs.
Passing on their crowns were the 2011 King and Queen, Dustin Safe and Jesslyn Hendrickson.
Junior Hannah Boman performed "Defying Gravity" with accompanist Kathy Illa.
Other members of the Homecoming Court are Ian Althoff, Bryan Anderson, Noah Callister, Tanner Jackson, Cody Meyers, Paul Rolfes, Kirsten Anderson, Lindsay LaMoore, Mikayla Quinn, Angie Fredrickson, Marley Mayer and Brekkan Winchell.
"Boston" was performed by Bryan Anderson, Noah Callister, Josh Geiken, and Colton Sande.
"Lucky" was performed by Matt Lockett and Allie Serres, with accompanist Kathy Illa.
Senior class officers are President Paul Rolfes, Vice President Noah Callister, Secretary Marley Mayer, Treasurer Mikayla Quinn. Class advisors are Kirsten Hoffman and Deb Klegin.
The Court and their parents will be introduced at the Rochester Lourdes football game at John Burch Park on Friday, October 5 and at the volleyball game at the high school gym against Byron on October 9.
A dance is being held Friday night after the football game.
The student council members, advised by Kate Dahlen. have planned and coordinated the week-long series of events at the school and around the community. Student council board members include, Emilee Lorentz, President; Ryan Foster, Vice President; Lauren Lecy, Secretary; Kelsie Beissel, Treasurer; Molly Thomforde, Historian.
