The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, working with the Southeast Minnesota Narcotics Task Force, arrested a Columbia Heights couple on Thursday, August 25 for selling two ounces of cocaine for $2,600.
The arrest resulted from an arranged buy with a confidential informant at the McDonald's parking lot in Cannon Falls.
The arrest took place at about 2:00 in the afternoon. Arrested were Duane N. Barker, 42, and Shameake Gamble, 36, both of Columbia Heights. They are being held in the Goodhue County Jail with bail set at $200,000 for Barker and $100,000 for Gamble. Court dates are set for later this month.
The Task Force arranged and observed the drug buy. Barker, who was apprehended with the 26 marked $100 bills that had been provided to the confidential informant, said he took the money as down payment for a purchase of the BMW car he was riding in. Barker said he had no idea that there was cocaine in the cell phone box that he gave to the informant during the buy.
Barker has prior drug convictions in 2003 and 2004 and about two dozen arrests dating back to 1992, mostly in Hennepin County, with no previous arrests in Cannon Falls or Goodhue County.
